What To Pack When You’re Off on An Adventure To Obudu
Obudu Cattle Ranch is a mountain resort so the weather is not the regular Nigerian weather. It can get really cold and the weather can change in the blink of an eye. Also due to the terrain, you have to make sure you have the right footwear and are generally ready for any activity you may engage in.
The weather can be hot one sec and cold the next so jeans, leggings, hoodies, joggers, tee-shirts and jumpers are your friends (You can also take a jacket along if you wish and these come in really handy during the Nov/Dec months). This way you’re able to stand the weather no matter what the situation is. It also means your comfortable while hiking or walking around which is a major part of visiting the ranch.
At night time jumpers come in especially handy as you might get the chills despite the bonfire’s flames.
You’ll be walking around ALOT so you need comfortable shoes. For the hikes however, you need hiking boots or a sturdy pair of trainers. This ensures that you don’t get injured and your feet are protected whilst discovering those mountains and valleys.
A pair of flip flops are also needed especially when you go jumping into the waterfalls or running around the water parks. They also come in handy for walking around your cabins/accommodation.
You might be thinking ‘why do I need a back pack?’ Well you need something to put your swimsuits, cameras, phones, flip flops etc when you’re going on the hikes.
This should be something light that won’t weigh your shoulders down while hiking. You don’t want to be weighed down by your stuff.
Swimsuits – because you’re going to be jumping into natural made swimming pools, sunglasses – because the sun is going to be out even if it’s cold, a hat/face cap, binoculars for bird watching, a first aid kit, games (scrabble, ludo etc) and chargers for your phones and electronics.
Don’t forget to pack your camera to capture the epic moments because there will be a lot of them.
So there you have it guys, a simple ‘what to pack list’ to make your visit to Obudu as seamless as possible. Of course depending on the kind of person you are there might be other things you want to take along but this covers the basis.
