Our Favorite Wall Murals/Graffiti Spot
Who doesn’t love a great wall mural or some artsy graffiti? A couple of spots in Lagos are getting in on having unique art in different areas that add more to the vibe and feel of the place.
We’ve decided to round up a couple of places that we’ve been to and think you should check out for your pictures. While no place can ever be Shoreditch or Camden, they do try.
Although it’s famous for having Nigeria’s version of the Bali swing, this restaurant also has a wall mural that isn’t to be missed. The best part? They change it often so it’s different and gives people something to look forward to.
In the words of Michael, ‘Dudes are bringing Mar Mikhael to Lagos’
So if you’re ever there, take a picture in front of it. You can’t miss it, it’s opposite the swing.
Address – 4B, Musa Yar Adua Street, Victoria Island, Lagos
BRT buses, Lagos Island
We know, this isn’t an actual building but if you go to Lagos Island, a short walk away from Freedom Park, you’ll find a BRT bus with the most beautiful graffiti on it (or maybe i’m being partial because my outfit matched the colors).
If you’re doing a Lagos Island tour, this is sure to add a pop of color to your pictures.
This ice cream shop has not just 1 but 2 wall murals. There’s one outside which is very dramatic and looks like a West Indian woman (think Pocahontas) while the one inside the main store is of one eyed ice cream men.
So while you wait for your order to come through, snap away in front of whichever mural tickles your fancy.
Address – 6 Emma Abimbola Cole, Lekki Phase I, Lagos
The first time hearing of Were House was during a pop up shop that happened there. The front of this building has different colours splashed on thereby making it stand out on the street.
This is definitely the most colorful house on there so you can’t miss it.
Address – 7b mike Adegbite, Lekki Phase 1
Is there a bathroom more famous than the one at Hans & Rene? We don’t think so. Everyone’s favorite ice cream store came on the scene with it’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ themed spiral wall mural and it was an instant hit.
Everyone went there to take pictures including celebrities. Heck it was probably more famous than the ice cream at some point. Some people made it a point to hunt this famous picture spot down and some even have it on their list of places to visit in Nigeria.
For this it’s earned a spot on this list.
Address – Raddison Blu, Ozumba Mbadiwe street, Victoria Island, Lagos
So if you’re looking for something different to do, why not take a day out and hunt all the amazing murals in your area.
What do you think of our list and which other places do you think should be on it. If you’re outside Lagos we would love to know what wall murals you’ve seen.
