Daycation | How To Spend The Day in Ibadan

DAYCATION IN IBADAN

Ever wondered how you can spend the day in Ibadan? Well we accepted the challenge when we took a lovely family to Ibadan for the day. We have a video at the bottom of this post to prove it. 🙂

We didn’t leave Lagos on time so we couldn’t tick off all the spots on the list but below you can see where we did make it to (and in the order that we did it). You can use it to plan your itinerary for your Ibadan daycation but ensure you leave Lagos in good time.

  1. Cocoa House – This used to be the tallest building in West Africa and was built off proceeds from cocoa, rubber and other commodities. It has 26 floors with the 26th  housing a museum dedicated to Yoruba culture. Unfortunately they don’t open on Saturdays so strike this off if you’re not going on a weekday.

  2. Mapo Hall – This is a colonial style building that’s said to be a symbol of authority and unity of Ibadan people. It was constructed to provide a central  hall for the Yorubas in the Ibadan province where they could meet  for administrative purposes. Cost – Depending on your haggling skills, budget N300 – N500 per person.

  3. Ibadan Zoo – This is probably the most well kept zoo I’ve visited so far in Nigeria. It has Zebras, Lions, Ostriches etc. Kids also have a play ground in the middle of the zoo. Cost – N500 per person

We were going to visit Agodi Gardens but ran out of time. However it was a pleasant trip and even though the rain tried to stop us, we were champs about it and it was a good way to spend the day.

To see what we got up to at the various stops, watch our video.
