‘I play basketball, but I’m just doing the waiter gig to take care of myself. This helps pay my bills, transport, health, food supplements etc. Sports in Nigeria is very tough. If there are no corpses, funeral homes won’t make money. In the same way, if there are no matches, I can’t play. This also means no money. In a year, we don’t get a lot of competitions unlike in other countries. Last month, I had only one match. I don’t want to be banker like my dad, or a lawyer, engineer and all the other professional jobs out there. I want to play basket ball professionally, and one day I’m going to make it.’
