A few weeks ago, we got a chance to check out Workstation Lagos. It is located in the heart of Victoria Island and we loved the experience. Workstation is an innovative space that offers work office solutions for a wide spectrum of needs at different price points. We got a tour of the facilities and had a chance to live in it for a good minute.
At the reception, we got our profile created and off on the tour we went. We were instantly struck by the open floor plan and the space is illuminated with sunlight from the huge glass windows encasing the entire space; this brings a bit of the outdoors indoors.
Setting up our profile
We loved the glass windows encasing the space
There are workstations scattered across the space; there are even a few cool yellow cube pods where we imagine the next big idea is going to be birthed.
Next big idea will be birthed in this pod
There are workstations on the ground floor reserved for people who wish to rent a work space monthly; here you get a dedicated work desk and seat. The rest of the work spaces, you just plug in and get to work.
There are also work spaces outdoor if you wish to work outside.
Upstairs, there are private offices for individuals or small sized companies. These beautiful offices are glass enclosed providing that open feel across the space (Unravelling Nigeria office space hmmm?) and you can get to the outdoor terrace from this space.
Unravelling Nigeria office maybe?
There is a fully equipped gym available and a yoga + meditation studio being constructed. We were also shown the spot where a rooftop full service bar will be located in the nearest future.
Can’t use work as an excuse not to work out anymore
There are fully equipped meeting and conference rooms available for booking. Workshops, trainings and presentations can all be handled.
High speed internet that every member can connect to (minimum of three devices). Members get key cards that give them access to the building. If you have a private office you have 24/7 access to the building. Members who are in the building before closing hours can stay until they are prepared to leave. Workstation amenities run 24/7 so you can work round the clock. This is really appealing to some of us workaholics.
Coffee while you work anyone?
When you need to grab a bite, there is a Simply Green Café appendage to the building. If you are into juices and healthy living you are in for a treat then.
We grabbed a slice of cake and one of their juice bottles on our way out and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The appeal of Workstation in my opinion is its versatility. A student, blogger, small business owner, startup firm and an out of towner looking for where to get some work done can all have their needs satisfied. There is a price plan crafted to appeal to the various needs. I found myself a nice space, whipped out my laptop, connected to the Wi-Fi and we were off to the races.
Have you read Suan’s post? It was GOOD!!
There appears to be a real sense of community amongst the people who use Workstation. I had a casual chat with a couple of people about their experiences using workstation and the networking potential was repetitively brought up.
Communities being formed at Workstation
Workstation becoming a potential ecosystem for innovators to interact and come up with cool stuff is an exciting possibility.
It’s also great because it fits into the travel lifestyle. If you’re coming from out of town and need to do some work or stay connected then this is the place to be.
Now about that private office for Unravelling Nigeria.
View from the top of our new office 🙂
NB. Parking can be a challenge
